Last night we went to Highbanks Metro Park to enjoy nature and view the holiday lights display along the Dripping River Trail. There was a little daylight left when we arrived at the park so we stopped at the Oak Cove Picnic Area Playground. The boys were able to get some energy out from being inside all day and we all enjoyed the fresh air and sunshine.

The Dripping Rock Trail entrance is conveniently located next to the Nature Center and is a short walking distance to the playground if you’d like to fit both experiences into your trip as well. The lighted portion of the trail starts at the Nature Center parking lot and wraps back around, making it appropriate for younger walkers. If you prefer to bring your stroller, the path is also stroller friendly. My boys both loved exploring the trail and were especially excited for the light tunnel towards the end.

The Columbus and Franklin County Metro Parks system has done a wonderful job installing holiday lights for guests to enjoy each evening at five of their parks this winter. In addition to Highbanks Metro Park, lights can be seen daily from 5:00pm to 8:00pm at Blacklick Woods Metro Park, Homestead Metro Park, Inniswood Metro Gardens and Scioto Grove Metro Park. Early this week, I shared our recent trip to the Homestead lights which were lovely.
